We leave behind two intense and successful seasons \u2013 years characterized by development, strong results, and a growing engagement for biathlon across the country. We have taken new steps \u2013 not only at World Cup level and at championships, but also in how we grow in breadth, strengthen the organization, and anchor our operations nationally. It is with pride that I now summarize a period in which our sport has continued to grow \u2013 in both elite and grassroots, nationally and internationally. Swedish biathlon stands stronger than ever.<\/p>\n
Our core values \u2013 innovation, community, success, and commitment \u2013 have guided everything we have done. They have given us direction as we expanded the elite program, strengthened our club structures, developed events, and continued to invest in children, youth, leadership, and education.<\/p>\n
At the very highest elite level, we have seen Swedish biathletes win historic medals \u2013 not least in Nov\u00e9 M\u011bsto, where the men won World Championship gold in the relay and the women, just hours earlier, took an impressive silver in the same event. During the 2024\/2025 season, we consolidated our place at the world\u2019s top even further \u2013 with 10 championship medals from the World Championships, European Championships, and Junior World Championships, and a total of 27 World Cup podiums. We have seen established athletes develop and new stars emerge. At the same time, we have developed our activities in breadth and organizationally. We have:<\/p>\n
This is the result of a whole movement that wants to move forward \u2013 a movement characterized by engagement, courage, and determination. We have taken steps at all levels \u2013 in elite and grassroots, in organization and in relations with society.<\/p>\n

Sofia Domeij<\/strong> We all remember the mass start in Lenzerheide. Elvira \u00d6berg, who had just won World Championship gold, remained in the finish area waiting for her sister Hanna, who \u2013 after falling and damaging her rifle \u2013 was clear last in the race. When Hanna crossed the finish line, the sisters shared an emotional embrace. It\u2019s a powerful memory; an instant that, to me, symbolizes Swedish biathlon. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. But we always do it together.<\/p>\n And it\u2019s precisely \u201ctogether\u201d that I carry with me when I look back on the past two years \u2013 and on the journey we\u2019re in the midst of. A journey toward our vision: world-leading in biathlon. Not only at the very top, but at every level. From children trying air rifles for the first time to major international championships.<\/p>\n Together, we have created more opportunities for children and young people to come into contact with our sport. We see it in the increased participation numbers in Wangeskog Cup, USM and JSM. We have carried out Sveaskog Camp \u2013 camps for youth aged 12\u201315 \u2013 where over 100 children took part already in the first year. And together with Dina F\u00f6rs\u00e4kringar, we have established a junior national team that gives promising young biathletes new dreams, better conditions, and a clearer path forward.<\/p>\n We have held Skidskyttekampen twice. It went from an idea to over 10,000 spectators at Stockholm Stadium \u2013 already in the first year. A world event in the center of Stockholm at Sweden\u2019s most iconic sports arena. It was there that Mona Brorsson was thanked off, and Johannes Thingnes B\u00f8 chose to carry out his final biathlon race on Swedish soil this year.<\/p>\n We have developed and strengthened our national and international competitions. The national finals received a new format and became Wangeskog Cup \u2013 a national competition weekend where participants compete for their region. The World Cup in \u00d6stersund in autumn 2023 offered magical winter conditions and warmth from the stands. Together with all the volunteers we once again showed that \u00d6stersund organizes world-class competitions. And the initiative around the Junior World Championships, where the races were broadcast live on SVT, put our juniors in the spotlight for the entire biathlon world. The Junior Worlds also became the starting shot for our World Championship bid for 2031 in \u00d6stersund \u2013 a journey that has now truly begun.<\/p>\n But none of this happens by itself. It is made possible by our athletes, clubs, volunteers, partners, and my fantastic colleagues, who drive Swedish biathlon forward every day \u2013 together with the entire movement. Without you, there is no biathlon Sweden.<\/p>\n So thank you for another couple of years. Now we look ahead, toward new goals. At the World Championships in Lenzerheide the Swedish team delivered several impressive performances, especially on the women\u2019s side, where we claimed four medals.
